Data Engineer, Global Data Products

About the role: What's in the Box

The Global Data Products team is a cross-functional unit that integrates data engineers and data analysts. The objective is to establish a dependable groundwork for data-driven decision-making. This role holds significance across the organization, tasked with constructing foundational data assets and metrics.

As a Data Engineer, the service provider will collaborate to build robust and highly reliable data products using cutting-edge technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, Spark, Kafka, etc.). This involves driving continuous improvement to current data processing workflows while engaging with data producers and consumers to align business requirements with the roadmap. This role does not include people management responsibilities.

At HelloTech, flexibility and cross-functional collaboration are core to the delivery of services. While this role is aligned to a specific Alliance, strong candidates may also be considered for opportunities across different teams or projects.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

• Build and maintain complex and scalable ETL pipelines
• Work closely with the data producers and software developers
• Collaborate closely with different stakeholders such as Marketing, Product Analytics, etc.
• Drive data quality and governance 
• Collaborate with the cross-organizational data engineering chapter to adapt the latest tools and techniques to the needs of HelloFresh.
• Review as a technical expert the implementations of multiple teams, continuously improving technical deliverables.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients 

• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and the ability to design, implement, and deliver maintainable and high-quality code.
• Strong problem-solving acumen.
• Proficiency in SQL and the Python stack.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to build effective communication structures in a fast-growing engineering organization.
• Bonus points: Treating data quality issues as engineering problems to solve; experience debugging Spark pipelines; and demonstrated experience with data modeling techniques.
• A team player attitude and a passion for advocating for best engineering practices, such as CI/CD, TDD, and Design Patterns.
