Customer Application Engineer (m/f/x)

About the Job

Join us at an exciting growth stage as we establish our e‑motor and e‑drive business in China, backed by our experienced German headquarters. In this role, you will work at the technical interface between OEM customers, engineering, and manufacturing—supporting vehicle integration, defining e‑motor system architectures, and translating customer requirements into robust, series‑ready solutions.  This is your chance to be one of the first on the ground in China, make a real impact from day one, and grow with us as we scale up.
Target start date for this Role is June to September.

Your Tasks

Customer Application & Integration: 

  • Support vehicle integration (packaging, loads, thermal behavior, NVH)
  • Analyze customer duty cycles, load cases, and environmental requirements
  • Lead technical discussions with OEM customers and support design reviews

System & Architecture:  

  • Define and support e‑motor system architectures for central and in‑wheel motor applications
  • Optimize performance, efficiency, and power density based on customer use cases
  • Define mechanical, electrical, and thermal interfaces to vehicle systems
  • Develop key motor components including stator, rotor, bearings, cooling, and sealing concept

RFQ, Validation & Industrialization Support 

  • Provide technical input for RFQs, feasibility studies, and risk assessments 
  • Support DFMEA / PFMEA, validation plans, and prototype testing 
  • Ensure designs are DFM/DFA compliant and suitable for China‑based series production 
  • Align with manufacturing and suppliers through development to SOP

Your Profile

  • 8+ years working in electric motor, drivetrain, or application engineering
  • Practical expertise with central drive units or in‑wheel motor systems
  • Familiarity with simulation tools (electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical) is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of automotive standards and development processes (V-model, APQP)
  • Background collaborating with automotive OEMs or major Tier‑1 suppliers
  • Experience guiding products through all stages from early concept to SOP
  • Structured, analytical, and cost-driven mindset linked with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-growing, SOP-driven organization
  • Fluent in English and Chinese
