Custom Shop Painter

The Painter for Custom Shop will be responsible for spray painting guitar & bass necks and bodies in a variety of colors and designs to meet customer needs. Will spray guitars with protective or decorative material such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel-coat, or lacquer by performing the following duties. Maintains work area in a clean, repaired and organized manner. Handles and stores all regulated materials in compliance with company policy, state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions

  • You will follow standard work and perform assigned operations to take place, respond to non-conformance by alerting Line Lead (Line stop)complete your Daily 6s checklist.
  • Assists in writing standard work instructions, participate in training and progresses through skill matrix, identify opportunity for SQDC improvement, perform regular job duties, and be Cross-Trained as needed.
  • You will participate in continuous improvement projects and must be ready to work when the line starts and prepare the work area for the next shift if applicable.   
  • Keep information organized and accessible, maintains clean/functional work space, works systematically/efficiently, and manages time well.
  • Respects and follows safety policies and regulations; scans the environment for things that may pose a safety risk; encourages others to utilize safe and healthy work practices.  
  • Critically reviews work processes to ensure quality; addresses problems that could impact quality; makes sure project deliverables and services meet all requirements and expectations; does not make the same mistakes twice.
  • Calls attention to issues that impact customer satisfaction; views thing from the perspective of customers; encourages people to think about customers when making decisions.  
  • You will have an opportunity to keep your technical skills current; by effectively applying specialized knowledge and skills to perform work tasks; understands and masters the technical skills, knowledge, and tasks associated with his/her job; shares technical expertise with others.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in a spray booth environment
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Proficient with spray booth manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of urethane applications on wood is desirable.
  • Knowledge of guitar construction and related paint tools and techniques desirable.
