We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Site Director to oversee the operations of our data center facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, secure, and reliable functioning of our data center, while also managing a team of technical professionals. Key Accountabilities
  • Direct and optimize all operations of the data center facility to ensure data performance, availability, and security.
  • Design and implement operating procedures and policies for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, networks, and storage systems.
  • Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, power supply) to prevent downtime and protect hardware.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent technical infrastructure service and presentation to internal and external clients.
  • Coordinate with outside teams to identify and implement new systems to support existing and future business needs.
  • Develop and manage the data center’s budget, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
  • Ownership of MEP operations across a single ServerFarm Data Center.
  • Support site operations improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure that all MEP plant and distribution infrastructure is operated and maintained in a safe manner, to best industry practice and within manufacturers recommendations.
  • Ensure Serverfarm Data Center site meets all required building codes.
  • Ensure all site MEP infrastructure operates within defined capacity standards.
  • Ensure all activities on site are carried out in accordance with Serverfarm Company Policies and Guidelines.
  • Work with Construction Team to ensure that site MEP capacity does not hinder business growth.
  • Drive and execute site Data Center operational standards to ensure consistent approach to people, process, plant, and providers.
  • Work with peers in global structure to coordinate all processes and align as appropriate.
  • Manage change, incident management, and problem resolution process for area of responsibility.
  • Ensure this process covers all works and is consistent with corresponding global processes.
  • Develop and grow talent within the team while creating an appropriate succession plan, encouraging innovation and a cross-functional working environment.
  • Ensure all major and minor site project work is executed without impact to service.
  • Ensure all site project work is designed and installed in a manner that allows for ease of operation and maintenance.
  • Promote and raise general awareness of IT operational dynamics within the MEP disciplines with aim to build data center ecosystem experts rather than MEP specialists among the Operations Team.
  • Ownership of site Insurance process and recommendations.
  • Ownership of site-based Data Center energy efficiency.
  • Ownership of site MEP DR planning and testing.
  • Satisfaction of Data Center clients.
  • Required Skills
  • Training equivalent to a journeyman level trade program, military technical schools (e.g. Navy Nuclear program) and/or a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience in data center operations.
  • Deep knowledge of data center operations, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
  • Strong project management skills and excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and regulations related to data center management.
  • Certifications such as ITIL, CCNA, MCSE, or PMP.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and control systems.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
