The Credit and Collection Analyst is responsible for analyzing and managing the credit and collections functions of the organization. This position ensures that customers are meeting their financial obligations by evaluating creditworthiness, monitoring accounts, and taking proactive steps to minimize financial risk. The Credit and Collection Analyst will work closely with the Credit and Collection Manager to provide data-driven insights, optimize collection strategies, and improve the overall credit management process. This position reports to Credit and Collection Manager Role Responsibilities:
  • Credit Analysis Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate new and existing customer creditworthiness by conducting credit checks and analyzing financial data.
  • Prepare and review credit applications, recommend credit limits, and set payment terms based on risk analysis.
  • Maintain updated credit files for all customers, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
  • Provide regular updates on customer credit risk and make recommendations for credit limit adjustments.
  • Work with the sales team to provide guidance on credit-related issues and support business growth while managing risk.
  • Implement and maintain credit risk management tools to enhance decision-making.
  • Collection Analysis Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify delinquent accounts and prioritize collection efforts.
  • Develop and implement collection strategies to minimize overdue payments and bad debt.
  • Collaborate with the collection team to ensure consistent follow-up with customers regarding overdue invoices and payment disputes.
  • Provide detailed analysis of collection performance and report trends to the Credit and Collection Manager.
  • Recommend process improvements based on analysis of collection data and industry trends.
  • Assist in preparing periodic reports on collection activities, highlighting key metrics such as DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and delinquency rates.
  • Partner with accounting, customer service, and sales teams to resolve disputes and discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Risk Mitigation and Reporting:
  • Identify high-risk accounts and develop action plans to mitigate exposure, including the use of payment plans, guarantees, or other risk mitigation tools.
  • Assist in managing credit insurance policies and claims where applicable.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to credit and collections, and propose initiatives to improve performance.
  • Provide analysis and insights on credit risk trends to support forecasting and strategic planning.
  • Support external audit requests and assist with internal audits as needed.
  • Payment Processing and Account Reconciliation
  • Accurately process and apply customer payments in accordance with established procedures
  • Generate and review customer statements, analyzing open invoices to ensure precise financial reporting
  • Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Maintain accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted
  • Provide customer service to resolve customer queries and billing discrepancies
  • Perform month-end financial closing procedure related to A/R
  • Reconcile AR daily banking
  • Qualifications & Skills:
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in credit and collections analysis or a related financial analysis role.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably JD Edwards Enterprise One).
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of credit analysis and collections processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (experience with VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and advanced functions).
  • Experience with financial modeling and credit risk assessment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with collection agencies and legal teams is a plus.
  • Job Expectations / Working Conditions:
  • Work in an office environment at a desk for extended periods using a computer.
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet with customers or attend conferences.
  • Overtime may be required during busy periods such as month-end or year-end closing.
  • Light filing and occasional lifting of objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer.
