Contract Length: 1 year
Hours: 40/hours a week, need to be flexible to work nights and weekends. 
Location: Bay Area, CA or LA, and NYC, may need to go in office as needed

Rate: Flat Weekly Rate: $6,000

About the Role

As Creative Director, you'll be the creative visionary and approver for all work our internal team creates, setting the bar for exceptional imagery, videos, edits, and social content. You'll lead creative development that feels native to social media – fast, bold, and experimental – while maintaining the highest creative standards. This role combines traditional creative direction excellence with forward-thinking AI experimentation.

You won't just direct – you'll create. As a Creative Artist type who makes things in your own time and way, you'll collaborate with designers, writers, editors, and producers to imagine, test, and launch new formats that capture attention and inspire others. You'll bring a well of ideas, deep cultural intuition, humor, and the creative instincts that drive standout social performance.

This role is ideal for someone who is first and foremost an exceptional creative director with enthusiasm for AI as a creative tool – excited to shape the future of content creation alongside a forward-thinking team.

What You'll Do

  • Creative approval and direction: Review and approve all creative work from the internal team, maintaining exceptionally high standards for imagery, video/edits, and social content
  • Concept and lead creative experiments that feel fresh, bold, and culturally relevant across social formats
  • Generate ideas prolifically – serving as a creative well for the team with concepts that drive performance
  • Build and prototype visual, written, or motion-first ideas across social platforms
  • Create quick-turn content – from concept to polished posts and stories that capture attention
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of designers, writers, producers, and editors
  • Define visual and creative language for how we approach content creation
  • Spot trends early and translate them into original executions that feel native to each platform
  • Experiment with AI tools like Midjourney, ChatGPT, Runway, and others as creative partners
  • Work across social platforms with deep understanding of what performs where
  • Essential:

  • 10+ years of experience in senior creative roles with proven track record of exceptional creative work
  • Outstanding creative instincts and high bar for visual storytelling, especially for social platforms
  • Deep understanding of social media culture, trends, and what drives engagement
  • Hands-on creative skills – you can write, design, or produce content yourself
  • Preferred:

  • Interest and enthusiasm for AI tools with some experimentation experience
  • Experience with generative AI tools like Midjourney, Runway, ChatGPT, Gemini, Sora
  • A track record of launching viral or standout creative in social media
  • Experience leading creative on tech-forward or innovative products
  • Comfort building quick demos, prototypes, or visuals
