We are looking for an experienced Tax Compliance Manager to join a developing public accounting practice near Townsend, Delaware. This full-time, in-office leadership role is designed for a credentialed tax professional who enjoys client interaction, team collaboration, and process improvement within a small-business focused accounting environment. The position is based in Townsend and supports clients across the surrounding region, helping strengthen both compliance accuracy and long-term tax planning outcomes in Townsend.

The Tax Compliance Manager will lead return preparation and review activities while mentoring junior accounting staff and supporting operational standards within the Townsend office. Candidates who hold a CPA, EA, or licensed tax preparation credential and have supervisory public accounting experience will find strong alignment with this role in Townsend. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive tax planning guidance and compliance updates for clients located near Townsend
  • Respond to IRS and state agency correspondence related to income, payroll, and business taxation matters
  • Review bookkeeping records and assist in the preparation or verification of financial statements
  • Track payroll tax submissions including W-2s, 1099s, and related reporting requirements
  • Maintain accurate accounting entries associated with tax transactions using specialized software
  • Organize compliance documentation and manage secure tax record databases
  • Mentor team members by answering technical questions and supporting professional growth
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and internal review enhancements
  • Help strengthen procedural efficiency, cybersecurity awareness, and workflow standards
  • Generate advanced financial and tax reporting summaries for high-level advisory clients in Townsend

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of public accounting experience focused on tax compliance and review supervision
  • Active CPA, EA, or licensed tax preparer certification required
  • Strong knowledge of individual, partnership, and corporate taxation regulations
  • Experience managing IRS and state tax notices or audit-related communication
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop environments
  • Familiarity with UltraTax and Accounting CS platforms is beneficial
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to implement structured procedures and maintain accuracy under deadlines
  • Leadership capability with a cooperative and service-oriented mindset
