About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Communications Manager to join our Corporate Affairs division. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for shaping and delivering strategic communication initiatives that strengthen RWWA’s reputation, elevate our brand, and deepen engagement with key stakeholders across WA and beyond.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, you will lead the planning and execution of high-impact communication strategies, oversee media relations activity, manage community engagement programs, and guide brand messaging across all channels. You will also hold leadership responsibility for the Internal Communications Officer and play a key role in crafting RWWA’s major strategic publications, including the Annual Report.

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Develop and execute communication strategies that promote organisational initiatives and enhance external visibility.
  • Ensure messages and campaigns are aligned with RWWA’s brand, values and strategic priorities.
  • Oversee internal communications and provide leadership to the Internal Communications Officer.
  • Lead the development of key corporate publications, including the Annual Report.
  • Serve as a primary contact for media and journalists.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, talking points and key messages.
  • Prepare spokespeople for interviews, media briefings and announcements.
  • Monitor coverage and provide insights to inform future media engagement.
  • Act as the primary contact for Racing WA Community Fund partners.
  • Oversee community grant processes and support outreach programs.
  • Strengthen relationships with racing participants, community groups and government stakeholders.
  • Monitor public sentiment and provide strategic advice to support brand positioning.

About You

You are a strategic communicator with exceptional judgement, strong writing and storytelling skills, and the ability to influence at all levels. You thrive in a busy environment, can balance multiple priorities, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

You will also bring:

  • A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in communications, PR or media relations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering strategic communication plans.
  • Strong media relations capability and confidence in managing issues.
  • Experience leading people and contributing to a strong team culture.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
