The Corporate Communications Intern will support AccuWeather’s global communications efforts by assisting in the development, coordination, and distribution of internal and external communications. This role helps strengthen AccuWeather’s brand visibility, supports key company announcements, and contributes to storytelling efforts that highlight AccuWeather’s mission, products, and leadership. The intern will gain hands-on experience in media relations, content creation including executive social media content, corporate messaging, and cross-departmental collaboration within a fast-paced, high-impact communications environment.

The internship also must be completed onsite at AccuWeather Headquarters in State College, PA.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in drafting, editing, and reviewing press releases, internal announcements, media statements, and other communication materials.
  • Support proactive media outreach by preparing media lists, monitoring coverage, and identifying opportunities to elevate AccuWeather’s brand and thought leadership.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitive news, and relevant topics to inform communications strategy.
  • Help develop content for corporate channels, including newsletters, intranet posts, executive messaging, and social media as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics for communications campaigns, events, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Assist with daily media monitoring and prepare reports summarizing coverage and insights.
  • Maintain organized communication assets including messaging documents, press materials, and coverage archives.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, AccuWeather Network, and other internal teams to support communications priorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively.
  • Familiarity with media, communications principles, and AP Style.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous internship or project experience in communications, PR, or media.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools, content management systems, or social media platforms.
  • Interest in weather, science communication, or technology.
