The Controller will support the finance team in managing accounting operations, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities 

Duties include, but are not limited to.

  • Support the management of accounting operations for the Group and its subsidiaries across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate IFRS reporting and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and Group consolidations.
  • Perform detailed reviews of monthly financial results, challenge numbers which are off trend and ensure changes are actioned by the Finance team promptly
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
  • NetSuite Administrator tasks including user account setup, user custom roles/permissions, GL accounts creation and maintenance, new entity setup, workflow creation, report building, system updates, user training  
  • Ensure financial risks are logged in the Finance Risk Register with quarterly reviews of financial controls.
  • Support tax accounting processes where required, including VAT, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Income Tax accruals 
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Support external audit processes by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Internal Controls - Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and systems 
  • Drive ERP and automation projects to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed financial analysis and variance reports for management review.
  • Ensure timely communication with Compliance, Product, Tax and Treasury teams to meet statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate ethical finance practices and support continuous learning within the team.


Requirements

  • Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of IFRS principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and preparation of consolidated statements.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to work with multi-currency transactions and reconciliations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Big 4 audit or advisory experience is mandatory, with demonstrable exposure to complex financial reporting environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification (SAICA, CPA, ACCA) or progress toward qualification preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Must have worked with reporting assets held on behalf of clients.
  • Must have extensive NetSuite experience, including managing COA, opening new entities, and creating custom NetSuite reports. 
  • Experience with IFRS reporting and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Exposure to tax compliance and audit processes is an advantage.
  • Excellent excel and analysis skills
