Eligibility, Background and Expertise

Village Capital is seeking a contractor to support our team in delivering the Sage Impact Entrepreneurship (SIE) program in Europe. The SIE program is a joint initiative dedicated to accelerating the growth of innovative startups that address the most pressing social and environmental challenges of our time. The contractor will be supporting the team to conduct market research, company due diligence, cohort onboarding, program design & implementation, mentor recruitment, cohort management, session preparation, facilitation of key investment workshops, data collection, and our reporting processes, as well as alumni engagement. 


In order to fulfill the requirements of the scope of work, the contractor should have:

  • Extensive knowledge of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Europe 
  • Experience working with early-stage entrepreneurs 
  • Experience working in the climate space
  • Relevant experience in facilitating investment-readiness acceleration sessions
  • Financial Analysis and Modeling, especially with impact-creating high-growth potential companies


Scope of Work

The contractor is expected to complete the following deliverables:


1. Market Research: Conduct market research and ecosystem mapping to identify trends, opportunities, and relevant business models in the European impact ecosystem.


2. Due Diligence and Briefing Book: Conduct due diligence interviews for the semi-selected companies and prepare and finalize a comprehensive briefing book that includes information about all companies interviewed.


3. Selection: Prepare and take part in the semi-finalist and finalist selection. Present the companies interviewed and provide an analysis on whether to accept or reject them to the cohort.


4. Cohort Orientation and Onboarding: 

  • Support and help organize and facilitate the orientation call for selected companies in the US, UK, and Europe.
  • Support program communications by drafting and sending outreach emails to potential startup participants.
  • Set up the program curriculum in Google Classroom, create student accounts, and organize pre-work materials and communication channels to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Update and maintain pre-work materials and research assignments to support program readiness.
  • Revise and update program documents to reflect new program dates, confirmed companies, breakout room assignments, mentors/investors, and updated examples


5. Program Design and Implementation

  • Facilitate an assigned set of virtual and/or in-person sessions, including Financial Narrative Sessions, Valuation and Exits, Market Sizing, and Capital Explorer Curriculum
  • Design and develop a workshop’s content/slides for assigned sessions
  • Provide guidance and consulting for cohort companies that request support during the course of the program, including coaching for investor pitching sessions.
  • Assist in the mentor/investor matching process with cohort companies
  • Set up required platforms and organize Investor Perspective sessions
  • Support the planning and execution of the in-person summit by managing catering and event logistics, coordinating Mentor and Investor participation, and developing workshop materials and program content, along with other ad hoc support as required.


6. Financial Narratives Support: Request and review financial information of the companies attending the program. This includes engaging with companies in both group setting and individually (1-on-1), going through their financial narratives (projections, unit economics, etc.) and giving feedback, guidance, and ways entrepreneurs can improve the financial narratives in order to achieve their objectives (fundraising, cost optimization, etc.) and building and updating a tracker to keep the updated financial information for all companies and your conversations with them.


7. Mentor and Investor Outreach:

  • Identify mentors and investors in Europe region to contact them with personalized emails and recruit them to engage with companies during the program
  • Contact select mentors and investors in each region and confirm participation for key mentor sessions 
  • Coordinate with selected mentors and investors their participation in the program and logistics
  • Facilitate the mentor-matching process by evaluating each company's unique needs and strategically aligning them with the most suitable mentors in the pool.
  • Send updates to mentors and investors about any progress made by companies


8. Metrics & Reporting

  • Introduce impact tracking to startups to help each identify a core impact metric for alumni tracking.
  • Coordinate with all the alumni startups to track their core impact metric 
  • Deliver comprehensive progress reports to stakeholders, outlining key milestones, learnings, and overall program impact.
  • Help develop a summary presentation of program for the funder  that highlights: 
    • Cohort milestone progress
    • Key media spotlights and cohort storytelling
    • Impact report summary and overview
    • Cohort metrics, capital raised, and partnership advances 


9. Post-Program Alumni Engagement: Execute and oversee the post-program alumni engagement, through investor and mentor connections, peer-review and feedback, milestone progress and fortnightly office hours. This will also include overseeing and coordinating any optional and included product training sessions. 


10. Knowledge Transfer and Program Improvement: Attend meetings with program team, partner and others to discuss key updates and progress forward. Provide actionable feedback and recommendations to support continuous program improvement. Summarize program development suggestions and lessons learned from Y2 based on quarterly progress reports  and share recommendations for overall program improvement and efficiency for 2027. 


Duration of the Engagement

The consultant is expected to support the team starting on 1st January 2026 till 30th August 2026.
