KPNX, the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, is seeking an experienced, innovative, and passionate journalist to join our team as a Consumer Reporter and Investigator. This reporter will help our audience make smarter financial decisions and protect their hard-earned money by focusing on the money issues that matter most to families.
You’ll help viewers navigate rising costs, beat inflation, and stretch their household budgets. You’ll uncover scams, questionable business practices, and other issues that impact everyday consumers, providing clear, actionable information that empowers people to take control of their finances. The ideal candidate thrives on storytelling that makes a difference, combining sharp investigative instincts with a genuine desire to serve the community.
Responsibilities:
• Report, research, and produce stories focused on consumer and personal finance topics
• Develop trusted community sources and identify emerging consumer trends
• Simplify complex financial topics to create engaging, accessible stories
• Produce impactful content that enhances the financial well-being of Arizona families
• Collaborate with digital and broadcast teams to deliver reporting across TV, web, social media, and streaming platforms
• Present timely daily consumer news as well as longer-form stories and investigations
Requirements:
• 3–5 years of reporting experience preferred
• Solid news judgment, strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making
• Ability to shoot and edit video
• Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics preferred
• Strong organization and ability to work under constant deadlines
• Proven ability to create compelling social and digital content
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a news-gathering vehicle for assignments
