An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join a new nurse-led residential service supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. This is a unique chance to help shape and deliver an innovative service from the ground up.

This is a part-time role of 15 hours per week.


What you’ll be doing

You will join a compassionate team committed to resident wellbeing. The service takes a personalised, therapeutic approach, using evidence-based interventions to support individuals in achieving a healthier and more fulfilling future.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including participating in multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews, and contributing to the development of a therapeutic environment.

  • Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).

  • Overseeing referrals and admissions, including contributing to pre-admission assessments.

  • Providing a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team regarding assessment, formulation, and treatment.

  • Supporting staff in the assessment and implementation of individual care plans and undertaking routine clinical tasks to promote dignity, wellbeing, and effective treatment.

What you’ll bring to the role

The work is highly rewarding, though often challenging, and requires resilience as well as empathy.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Psychiatry.

  • Be fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise.

  • Have substantial experience managing complex mental health presentations in NHS or equivalent settings.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of relevant guidelines, legislation, and standards (e.g., NICE, Mental Health Act).

  • Be skilled in psychopharmacology, risk assessment, and evidence-based treatment approaches.

  • Have experience contributing to clinical audits, service development, and training.
