AI overview

Contribute to clinical governance in a secure hospital while joining a dedicated team of forensic consultants and enhancing your leadership skills through ongoing development opportunities.

A vacancy has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist in a secure hospital setting. The role will initially cover a low secure service, with future opportunities to work across both male and female medium secure services on the same site.

This is a part-time position working 26.25 hours per week.

What you’ll be doing
The postholder will report to the Medical Director and will join a team of experienced full-time and part-time forensic consultants, supported by a full-time resident doctor who provides out-of-hours cover. Each ward has a full multidisciplinary team (MDT), including psychology, occupational therapy, and social work. The hospital also has a well-established clinical governance structure and quality improvement programme.

The successful candidate will contribute to clinical governance at both ward and hospital levels. The on-call rota is 1 in 5 (non-resident) and covers several associated secure units. While the resident doctor manages most medical concerns, occasional attendance may be required. Additional units covered include a small bespoke therapeutic service and a low secure unit.

Informal discussions and visits to meet the MDT and management team are welcomed.
