We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to join our esteemed client’s team in Croydon, Surrey. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatrist to contribute to the delivery of high-quality mental health services for adults. This vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately on a short-term contract. This vacancy offers competitive rates.

What will your responsibilities be?

You provide expert clinical leadership and psychiatric care to adults with a wide range of mental health conditions, conducting comprehensive assessments, formulating diagnoses, and developing tailored treatment plans. As a Section 12-approved clinician and Approved Clinician under the Mental Health Act, you oversee patient care under the CPA and work collaboratively with psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals. You guide and support junior medical staff, contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement, and engage with families, carers, and external agencies to ensure truly holistic, person-centred care.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status – essential
  • Experience working in inpatient and/or community mental health settings
  • Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical governance
