Who we're looking for

The Consultancy Resource Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising the allocation of our consultancy resources across all practices. Taking ownership of consultancy bookings from request through to securing confirmation, the role holder will be a strategic thinker, an excellent organiser possessing a good understanding of Microsoft technologies. Able to think on your feet and take full ownership of the requests prior to hand over into delivery.

What you'll be delivering

Stakeholder collaboration 
  • Proactively liaise with the Consultancy Operations Director, Practice Leads, PMO, Project Managers, Commercial Sales, Practice Directors, and Technical Consultants when planning engagements incoming through the consultancy booking process. 
  • Serve as the day-to-day primary point of contact for consultancy resource-related enquiries. 
  • Actively work with the Consultancy Operations Director to address and resolve any consultancy resource-related issues or conflicts.  
  • Effective communication to Commercial Sales, altering and managing expectations for them to relay to customers. 
  • Effective communication to our customers to ensure expectations and pre-requisite actions are managed regarding upcoming and secured consultancy days. 
  • Effective communication with project managers to understand project scopes, resource requirements and timelines. 
  • Manage and deliver proactive weekly updates to the Commercial Sales and PMO team regarding resource availability – proactively working with them to help ensure optimised utilisation. 
Resource allocation 
  • Maintaining and controlling consultant schedules with effective forecasting and re-scheduling. 
  • Ensuring 100% coverage of consultants' schedules, planning short and long term, proactively working to make appropriate changes to prioritise and proactively seek customer billable work. 
  • Accurate and always up to date logging and tracking of engagement bookings for auditing purposes. 
  • Weekly monitoring of resource utilisation, adjusting allocations to maximise efficiency. 
  • Calmly and proactively manage late changes and cancellations to diary requirements ensuring processes are followed and appropriate communication of all changes to all parties concerned (Project Managers, Commercial Sales, Finance, Consultants, Customer). 
 
Process Improvement 
  • Review processes and recommend improvements to support the efficiency of the consultancy booking team and the activities.  
  • Updating internal process documentation. 
  • Following up on Customer Satisfaction feedback.  
 
Analysis and Reporting  
  • Generate weekly and monthly reports on resource utilisation, availability, and forecasting; these may be ad-hoc as needed.  
  • Provide utilisation insights and recommendations to Consultancy Operations Director. 
 
Team Management  
  • Provide line management support for resource coordinators as needed.
  • Identify training and development needs for resource coordinators with clear goals and benefits. 

We think you'll be successful in this role if you have some of the following

  • Proven experience of professional services consultancy resource scheduling, in an IT environment utilising Microsoft technologies and cloud services managing customer expectations. 
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies. 
  • Commercial awareness and budget control.  
  • Ability to analyse data and generate actionable insights. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills: Proven customer focus and interpersonal skills (establish effective working relationships with people at all levels). 
  • Excellent organisational and administration skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 
  • Clear, logical, forward thinker with excellent problem-solving skills: Proactive in identifying issues and developing effective solutions. 
  • The ability to communicate at all levels written or verbal; and calmly under pressure within a demanding, quick turnaround environment. 
  • Self-motivated and inquisitive; always ready to ask questions, clarify requirements & understanding. 
  • Capable of motivating individuals.  
  • Foster a collaborative environment. 
  • Attention to detail is critical. 
  • Good understanding of Microsoft technologies and solutions. 
  • Committed to ongoing personal development. 

Work Environment

  • This role typically operates in a remote working environment, with occasional travel to the Hub required for team collaboration. 
  • The position may require working extended hours to meet resource deadlines.
