This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for Australian commercial construction projects, supporting tenders, and collaborating closely with project teams to ensure successful project handovers.

 

Job/Role Responsibilities

Estimating & Quotations

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
  • Complete full quantity take-offs for labour, materials, plant, and subcontract trades.
  • Review architectural, structural, and services drawings and specifications.
  • Build and manage estimates using Cubit Estimating Software (training provided if required).
  • Assess risks, preliminaries, allowances, margins, and contingencies within estimates.
  • Prepare and issue outgoing quotations to prospective clients.

Tender & Project Support

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and senior stakeholders during tender reviews.
  • Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Prepare structured handover documentation for awarded projects.
  • Maintain and update estimating templates and cost databases.

Communication & Coordination

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to obtain pricing and scope information.
  • Make outbound phone calls and send emails to clarify scope, pricing, and assumptions.
  • Ensure all estimates and quotations are delivered within agreed deadlines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Construction Estimator.
  • Strong expertise in Australian commercial construction projects.
  • Proven ability to interpret Australian construction drawings and specifications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong numerical accuracy.
  • Experience using construction estimating software; Cubit experience is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and perform under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
