Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Compliance Associate to support the organization’s compliance program and ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. In this role, you will assist with monitoring regulatory requirements, conducting compliance reviews, and maintaining accurate documentation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including legal, risk, operations, and management to identify compliance risks, support audits, and help promote a strong culture of compliance across the organization.

  • Daily Transaction Monitoring and Market Surveillance.
  • Alert Resolution and Regulatory Submissions.
  • Exemption Report Review.
  • Manual Review of Crypto Asset Transactions.
  • Blockchain Transaction Analysis.
  • User Onboarding and Ongoing Monitoring.
  • Business/Entity User Onboarding and Ongoing Monitoring.
  • Client Query and Complaint Management.
  • Employee Training and Policy Enforcement.
  • Assistance with Audits, Regulatory Requests, and Law Enforcement.
  • Continuous Process Improvement.

 

Additional Duties

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Legal, Operations, IT, and Risk to ensure compliance issues are addressed holistically and efficiently across the organization.
  • Regulatory Change Management: Monitor changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Assist in assessing the impact of regulatory updates on internal policies and procedures, and facilitate timely adaptation and staff communication.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of compliance activities, audits, and correspondence with regulators. Ensure all documentation is up to date and readily accessible for internal or external review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, law, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, AML/ATF, or securities regulation within a CIRO‑regulated dealer or a comparable financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of IDPC rules and FINTRAC AML/ATF obligations.
  • CIRO proficiency and registration requirements.
  • Client onboarding frameworks (KYC and KYB requirements).
  • Fraud detection, case escalation, and incident‑handling workflows.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and red flags in documentation and supervisory reviews.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply regulatory standards to complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to document supervisory reviews clearly and maintain complete, auditable records.
  • Demonstrated judgment and decision‑making in high‑risk or time‑sensitive regulatory matters.
  • Excellent communication, escalation, and cross‑department coordination skills.
