As the Community Engagement Coordinator (Coordinator - External Affairs and Social Performance team) at site, you will be responsible for managing, in a timely and accurate manner, the preparation and distribution of reporting documentation associated with community and stakeholder engagement at the Waihi Operation.
This role also plays a key part in supporting the site’s external communications activities. This includes assisting with the formatting, and visual design of newsletters, fact sheets, presentations, social media content, and other public-facing materials; ensuring content is clear, consistent, and aligned with OceanaGold’s Corporate Style Guide.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Social Performance
- Coordinate and support recurring meetings and reporting requirements, including scheduling and preparing materials for weekly team meetings and compiling monthly reports.
- Support the preparation of social impact management reporting to regulators, including gathering and collating internal data and assisting with community perception surveys.
- Assist in the implementation, and review of OceanaGold’s External Affairs and Social Performance (EA&SP) Management System for the Waihi Operation, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and regulatory obligations.
- Assist with the maintenance and update of OceanaGold Waihi’s INX stakeholder engagement database, ensuring all stakeholder interactions, commitments, and follow-up actions are recorded and tracked accurately and in a timely manner.
- Utilise TeamBinder and SharePoint to manage document control processes and support the distribution of controlled documents.
- Contribute to the monitoring of stakeholder engagement plans, ensuring they are tracked, remain current, and are responsive to stakeholder feedback and expectations.
Communications
- Assist with the creation and formatting of public-facing materials, including newsletters, fact sheets, presentations, and social media content.
- Support the preparation of engaging and accessible content for the broader site, as directed, including maps, interpretation panels, and signage.
- Ensure all communication materials are consistent and visually aligned with OceanaGold’s Corporate Style Guide.
Essential:
- A comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite in particular Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Analytical and detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent relationship building skills, including a proven ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Experience working in project teams with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Full and Current Driver Licence.
Desirable:
- Proven experience using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop to produce high-quality visual and print materials.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in social sciences, communications, or graphic design (preferred but not essential).
Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the fields of communications, graphic design and administration.
