The Commissions Analyst will be responsible for calculating, auditing, and analyzing Instructure’s sales compensation plans across multiple sales channels. This role serves as a key partner to Finance, Revenue Operations, and Sales, ensuring that commission processes are executed with the highest levels of precision, accuracy, and transparency
What You'll Be Doing
Commission Processing: Accurately calculate commissions, bonuses, and SPIFFs for diverse sales teams on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Data Auditing: Conduct regular audits of Salesforce and Revenue Operations data to verify deal values, contract dates, and ownership details.
Commission Structure Implementation: Interpret and apply various commission structures—including accelerators, clawbacks, and annual true-ups—with precision and compliance.
Representative Support: Serve as the initial point of contact for sales representatives, providing clear, timely responses to questions regarding compensation, statements, and plan structures.
Plan Documentation: Track, manage, and ensure the accuracy of compensation plan documents; oversee the onboarding of new hires into the commission system.
Dispute Management: Lead investigations to resolve commission discrepancies while emphasizing fairness, policy adherence, and clear communication.
Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to commission workflows to minimize manual errors and enhance efficiency.
Ad-Hoc Reporting: Deliver actionable reports on quota attainment, commission rates, and payout analyses to both Sales and Finance leadership.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, complex filters, and logic formulas (e.g., IF, SUMIFS).
Systems Experience: Foundational knowledge of Salesforce (reporting and dashboards) and familiarity with automated commission tools such as Performio, CaptivateIQ, or Xactly.
SaaS Industry Knowledge: Understanding of key SaaS metrics like ARR, ACV, and pipeline, with an ability to apply this knowledge to variable compensation analysis.
