Role Overview

The Commissioner – Engineering (HV/MV) plays a critical role in the energisation, testing and commissioning of high-voltage and medium-voltage systems within hyperscale data-centre environments. You act as a technical authority for HV/MV systems, collaborate with OEMs, lead commissioning execution and ensure safe, compliant system handover.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning Execution

• Lead HV/MV commissioning activities including inspections, testing, energisation and sign-off.
• Develop commissioning plans, RAMS and method statements.
• Oversee functional testing of switchgear, transformers, LV/HV protection systems, UPS interfaces and SCADA/BMS controls.
• Complete all documentation: checklists, test sheets, red-lines, and handover packs.
  
  

Technical & Engineering Oversight

• Review electrical designs, SLDs, vendor documentation and cable schedules.
• Identify design/installation issues and propose engineering solutions.
• Support FATs, SATs and protection relay configuration activities with OEMs.
  
  

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure alignment with IEC/EN standards, project specs and Centum QA processes.
• Support QA/QC with inspections and test witnessing.
  
  

Safety Leadership

• Enforce LOTO, HV switching protocols and permit-to-work systems.
• Maintain a safety-first approach to all energisation activities.
  
  

Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with construction managers, supervisors and client commissioning teams.
• Provide clear progress reporting and maintain accurate commissioning logs.
  
  

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5+ years’ HV/MV commissioning experience in data centres, utilities or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of switchgear, transformers, protection systems, SCADA/BMS and HV testing methods.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and interpret commissioning documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel across Europe.
  
  

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems or equivalent experience.
• HV switching and related safety training advantageous.
• OEM/vendor certifications desirable.
  
  

Desirable

• Experience with Primavera P6 or Procore is desirable.
• Exposure to hyperscale data-centre commissioning frameworks.
