Commercial Roofing Project Manager / Sheet Metal Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Roofing & Architectural Sheet Metal Estimator / Project Manager to support commercial construction projects throughout the Des Moines, IA market. This role blends preconstruction estimating responsibilities with hands-on project management to ensure roofing and metal scope work is completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial roofing systems, architectural metal fabrication, and building envelope coordination. This position plays a critical role in preparing competitive bids while also overseeing awarded projects from kickoff through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop accurate cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals for commercial roofing and sheet metal projects
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define scope and pricing
• Manage project execution including scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination
• Track labor, materials, and job costs to maintain profitability
• Coordinate with general contractors, field supervisors, and suppliers throughout the Des Moines region
• Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and monitor installation progress
• Oversee change order preparation and contract documentation
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and project timelines
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and trade partners

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in commercial roofing and/or architectural sheet metal estimating and project management
• Working knowledge of TPO, EPDM, PVC, metal panel systems, flashing details, and fabrication methods
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
• Experience preparing bid packages and cost analyses
• Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Familiarity with construction management software and estimating platforms
• Field experience in roofing or building envelope systems preferred
