Position Summary:
Xpansiv is seeking a highly motivated Commercial and Operations Intern to join our team. This role is suited to a commercially minded student with strong analytical capability, advanced Excel skills, and an interest in environmental, energy, and commodities markets.
The successful candidate will be results-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with data to support decision-making. You will work closely with commercial, operations, sales, and marketing teams, gaining exposure to live markets and real-world commercial outcomes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
This internship offers hands-on experience across market operations, commercial analysis, and client support, and is ideal for students seeking to build a career in financial, energy, or environmental markets
Commercial & Market Analysis
Assist with quantitative analysis and financial modelling of strategic business opportunities
Analyse emerging opportunities across environmental, carbon, renewable energy, and energy markets
Build and maintain Excel-based models, trackers, and dashboards to support commercial decision-making
Prepare market analysis on pricing, liquidity, volumes, and participant behaviour
Create commercial reports, including market trading activity and trend analysis
Market Operations Support
Assist with daily market operations and procedures associated with operating Xpansiv’s platforms
Support operational processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
Liaise with internal operations teams to resolve issues and support smooth market functioning
Sales, Client & Business Development Support
Work with the sales team to prepare client reports, presentations, and market insights
Support Commercial Management in servicing clients across relevant products and platforms
Assist in preparing documents and presentations for business development and client meetings
Liaise with commercial, operational teams, and clients on a daily basis to support their needs
Research, Policy & Marketing Support
Monitor relevant market legislation, regulation, and policy developments and prepare internal summary memos
Support marketing initiatives, including preparation of market commentary and collateral
Conduct research to support new product development and market expansion initiatives
General Responsibilities
Assist with ad hoc projects as required across commercial and operations teams
Complete all mandatory training within required timeframes
Adhere to internal policies relating to your role and responsibilities
Act with integrity, care, and diligence in carrying out all duties
Skills & Attributes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
Ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with multiple teams
Interest in environmental, energy, financial, or commodities markets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
