Commercial Finance Business Partner

Mission: You will report directly to the CFO and partner closely with all commercial partners. Your major mission is to act as a key advisor to the commercial team, your focus will be on delivering insightful financial planning, rigorous analysis, and proactive decision-making. You will balance short-term performance with long-term sustainability, enhancing profitability across product categories, customer portfolios, and channels. In essence, your role is also pivotal in the digital transformation of the organisation to foster a culture of data-driven decisions, innovation, and continuous improvement in the fast-paced FMCG sector.

Major Tasks of the Role:

  • Annual Goal Planning: Collaborate with the Commercial Director and Head of Sales to design annual turnover and product margin targets.
  • Product Portfolio Management: Work with the Commercial Director and Head of Marketing to plan the product portfolio, focusing on subcategories, sizes, pricing, promotional budgets, and production costs, aiming for company growth in revenue and profitability over a 3-5 year horizon.
  • Customer Portfolio Management: Collaborate with the General Commercial Director, Head of Sales, and Trade Marketing Manager to manage the customer portfolio, maximizing sales and profitability in the current client base and entering new profitable channels (e.g., pharma, e-business).
  • P&L Monitoring and Reporting: Track P&L performance and present financial results (actuals) to management on a monthly basis.
  • Sales Forecasting: Deliver monthly sales forecasts to management, emphasizing turnover and product profitability goals while identifying risks in advance.
  • Team Guidance: Regularly guide the commercial team on budget monitoring, forecasting, and proposing solutions.
  • Sales Mix Management: Support the commercial team in managing the sales mix to accelerate the growth of the most profitable categories.
  • ROI Analysis: Provide ROI analysis for customer actions and marketing activities to support the sales and marketing teams.
  • Profitability Analysis:
    • Analyze customer profitability and collaborate with the sales team to improve company's profitability (ongoing).
    • Analyze category profitability and work with the sales team to identify solutions to enhance company's profitability (ongoing).
  • Financial Reporting: Create and monitor ready-to-use financial reports for the sales teams and management on a monthly basis.
  • Cost Reduction Proposals: Present alternative solutions to management for reducing costs (production/trade/marketing) and increasing profits.
  • Project Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis for future projects and track profitability by project.
  • Team Building & Hiring: As part of expanding the finance function, hire and onboard a new team member, ensuring the right capabilities are in place to support financial planning and commercial decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3 years minimum experience working as a Commercial Controller, Senior Financial Analyst or Financial Business Partner of a Major FMCG Company
  • Proficiency in a relevant ERP in Finance and Commercial Environment
  • Very strong excel skills
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Capable to communicate concisely with Senior Levels
  • Strong ownership and can do attitude
  • Strong problem solver, characterized by analytic and synthetic ability
  • Emotional stability and resilience
