What You'll Do

We are seeking an experienced life sciences focused brand attorney to act as a strategic partner to cross-functional brand teams, helping translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance that enables compliant commercialization.

This role will provide practical, business-oriented legal and compliance guidance across mainly Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Patient Advocacy activities, with a focus on appropriate interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs), patients, payers, and consumers. The attorney will serve as an active member of the company’s material review committee and will help enable compliant, effective execution of commercial strategy while mitigating legal and reputational risk. The role reports to the VP, Associate General Counsel, Commercial Legal & Compliance

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel to Sales, Marketing, Market Access/Payer, Medical Affairs, and Patient Advocacy teams on healthcare regulatory, compliance, and other legal matters
  • Serve as a strategic partner and advisor to cross-functional teams on the design and execution of  engagements with HCPs, HCOs, patients, patient organizations, payers, and consumers, including promotion, scientific exchange, services arrangements, sponsorships, grants, donations, and educational activities
  • Participate as a core member of the Material Review Committee (MLR)
  • Review third-party relationships and related contracts in partnership with business functions
  • Provide counsel on healthcare compliance topics including Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS) and fraud and abuse considerations, and help identify/mitigate compliance risks 

Where You'll Work

This is a U.S.-based remote role that will require quarterly, or as needed visits, to our San Francisco Office, as well as occasional travel to other locations within the U.S.

Who You Are

  • J.D. degree from a nationally recognized law school
  • Admitted to practice law in the U.S.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • 5+ years as health law, life sciences or pharmaceutical regulatory or compliance counsel either at a law firm, company and/or relevant government agency (e.g., FDA).  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates
  • Commercial Launch experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience advising commercial and medical teams in a regulated life sciences environment
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and provide clear, actionable guidance in time-sensitive situations
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
