Co-Op/Intern Developer, Algorithms, Business Applications

Job location: our office in Ottawa, Canada

Term length: 4 months starting January 2024

About the Team

The Algorithms team at Kinaxis is responsible for creating the logic and heuristics that fuels our Supply Chain Management software, RapidResponse. The Algorithms team is divided into several smaller teams, and the one you will be working alongside is the Optimization team. We are working to build an optimization solution into RapidResponse, which allows us to not only offer near instant planning solutions using our traditional heuristics, but also gives customers the option of getting an optimal result to their supply planning problem.

On the Algorithms team, we believe in the DevOps culture – we serve our own tools, frameworks and infrastructure. Automation is at the top of our priority list, and this is where your position will come in. We need someone to help develop these tools, learn about and help manage deployments in Kubernetes, improve the documentation and dashboards we use, and more.

What you will do

  • Deploy, manage and maintain apps in Kubernetes
  • Manage internal customer deployments, to allow the team to test code against customer data
  • Learn about and create dashboards to aggregate important logging information from DataDog
  • Regularly review dashboards and alerts and investigate issues
  • Develop tools to improve the above processes
  • Improve documentation coverage of these processes
  • Participate in scrum processes, including daily standups and bi-weekly planning sessions
  • May perform additional projects as requested

What we are looking for

  • Team player with excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm and Docker
  • Experience with an OOP language is beneficial
  • Familiarity with Jenkins CI/CD is beneficial
  • Understanding of the agile development lifecycle
