Co-op Engineer – Wireless Sensing

Huawei Canada has an immediate 4 month co-op opening for an Engineer.

Huawei Canada's Advanced Optical Technology Lab focuses on advanced R&D in high-performance optical communications and networking. About the job:

• Collection and management of raw sensing data using different technologies, including radar, depth camera, and WiFi sensing

• Performance evaluation of implemented sensing algorithms via experimental testing of various applications, such as motion detection, target tracking, vital-sign monitoring, and gesture recognition

• Occasional help with the research and development of novel sensing algorithms, including radar-vision fusion and large language model- (LLM-) aided sensing

The total target annual compensation (based on 2,080 hours per year) ranges from $58,000 to $104,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

Requirements

About the ideal candidate:

• Enrolment in an undergraduate Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering program

• Proficiency in Python programming language

• Experience with software development tools (e.g., VS-code) and version control systems, including Git

• Previous experience with a sensing technology, such as millimeter wave (mmWave) radar, depth camera, or WiFi sensing is an asset

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
