Who We’re Looking For (Position Overview)
Spry Methods is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support a federal customer undergoing a major cloud modernization initiative. This role will support the migration of mission-critical systems from on-premises environments to cloud infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable operations.
The Cloud Engineer will collaborate with DevOps engineers, application teams, cybersecurity stakeholders, and government personnel to design, implement, migrate, and sustain cloud-based environments. This position plays a key role in ensuring system availability, performance, security, and compliance throughout the cloud adoption lifecycle.
What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like (Position Responsibilities)
Support the planning and execution of on-premises to cloud migrations, including application, data, and infrastructure components
Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation best practices
Configure and manage cloud environments using Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings (e.g., AWS, Azure, or equivalent government cloud platforms)
Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to integrate cloud environments into existing CI/CD pipelines and release processes
Maintain and manage Windows-based systems in cloud and hybrid environments
Support hybrid architectures, ensuring interoperability between legacy on-prem systems and cloud services during phased migrations
Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system reliability and performance
Apply updates, troubleshoot cloud-related issues, and coordinate with vendors or internal teams to resolve incidents
Ensure cloud solutions meet federal security and compliance requirements, including secure configuration, access controls, and vulnerability remediation
Support the migration and modernization of third-party applications (COTS/GOTS) to cloud environments
Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architectures, configurations, migration activities, and operational procedures
Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with stakeholders to gather and validate requirements
Advise government personnel on incremental improvements to cloud architectures, tooling, and operational processes
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Requirements)
Active Top Secret (TS) clearance
Bachelors Degree
1–6 years of experience in a Cloud Engineer or DevOps-focused role
Hands-on experience deploying or supporting cloud infrastructure in production environments
Experience supporting Windows-based systems
Familiarity with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, ARM)
Experience working in Agile environments (SAFe, Scrum, or Kanban)
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to support mission-critical systems
Ideally, You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience supporting hybrid or cloud migration initiatives in federal or classified environments
Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
Experience supporting multi-system enterprise environments
Familiarity with federal security frameworks and compliance standards
Experience working with both structured and unstructured data sources
Experience supporting Linux-based systems
