Role Overview

The Clinical Support Specialist provides hands-on clinical support, training, and education for the Sonico-CX® IVL system. This role works closely with physicians, cath lab staff, distributors, and internal teams to ensure safe, effective device usage, support therapy adoption, and collect real-world clinical feedback.

The position is field-facing and case-driven, requiring in-person clinical support, on-call availability, and close collaboration with distributor and clinical partners.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support & Training

  • Provide real-time, in-person clinical support during IVL procedures to ensure optimal and safe device use.
  • Guide clinicians through system setup, catheter preparation, imaging workflows, and device delivery.
  • Deliver structured training programs for physicians, nurses, cath lab staff, and internal field teams.
  • Provide remote clinical support via on-call conference calls for urgent distributor-assisted cases.
  • Train and certify distributors (online and on-site) on procedural support, troubleshooting, and clinical education standards.
  • Maintain flexible availability to support urgent, distributor-notified cases, including potential travel.

Clinical Education & Therapy Development

  • Deliver technical presentations and hands-on workshops at hospitals, clinical meetings, and distributor events.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with interventional cardiologists and cath lab teams to support therapy adoption and long-term usage.
  • Support the setup and execution of local registries or observational studies, including coordination with sites on logistics, IRB submissions, and data collection.
  • Engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to support protocol development, clinical feedback, and publication efforts.

Clinical Research & Feedback Collection

  • Support clinical trial activities by presenting and explaining study materials such as protocols, IFUs, core lab manuals, and CRFs.
  • Conduct post-market clinical follow-up and support data integrity monitoring at assigned sites.
  • Act as a liaison between end users and internal marketing and R&D teams to collect real-world product feedback.
  • Assist in documenting product performance, case reports, adverse events, and user experience insights.

Operational & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of site visits, clinical cases, and training activities using CRM or designated reporting tools.
  • Submit expense reports, training logs, and clinical documentation in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Support additional strategic accounts or regions as business needs require.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical support experience in interventional cardiology, radiology, vascular surgery, or cath lab environments
    OR
    at least 1 year of medical device case support or clinical research experience.
  • Familiarity with coronary or peripheral interventional devices such as IVL, atherectomy, PTA/PTCA, or intravascular imaging catheters.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including experience with console setup, catheter preparation, and procedural imaging workflows.
  • Comfortable working in clinical environments, providing hands-on procedural support, and communicating with multidisciplinary teams.
