Summary

The Clinical Staff Educator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the clinical competencies of healthcare personnel. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that support staff development and ensure high standards of resident care. Working closely with clinical leadership and frontline staff, the educator identifies learning needs, delivers targeted training, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.

Essential Functions

  • Creates a learning environment based on evidence-based practice using a variety of teaching strategies appropriate for the adult learner.
  • Teaches clinical skills to RNs, CNAs, LPNs and ancillary staff. Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Ability to model techniques and skills in practice settings.
  • Ability to build professional development plans for and with learners with the goal of developing their skills and assisting them to advance their professional practice.
  • Supports clinical leaders in the development of action plans and performance improvement plans (PIPs) to ensure best practices.
  • Provides timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners.
  • Supports the development and implementation of clinical programs, initiatives, standards and policies.
  • Designs, assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of educational programs and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with community and clinical partners to support educational goals.
  • Functions as a change agent and leader who advocates for nursing and nursing education.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary efforts to address health care and educational needs within the facility, community and system.
  • Manages employee wellness activities and occupational requirements, which may include PPD/TB placement/reading and N95 Respirator fit-testing.
  • LPN Licensure in state of Maryland; RN preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience as a RN/LPN in a long-term care setting, including clinical teaching experience.
