POSITION SUMMARY
As an integral member of the Medical Imaging Department, the eImaging Centre Clerk performs a number of routine and repetitive activities while functioning with some opportunity to exercise judgment and/or decision making, the principal responsibilities include:
- Following established protocols in response for, digital images/hard copy films retrieval and CD creation, as requested.
- Following established procedures to ensure efficient handling of electronic images/hard-copy films and other patient care related documentation.
- Monitoring and ensuring image stations are properly prepared and maintained for image capture and viewing.
- Reporting, maintaining and updating database logs of requested CDS, hard-copy films and problems or unusual situations that occur in day to day operations as related to image management
- Escalating problems relating to image capture to area supervisor.
- Creating, filing and purging CDs, library films jackets that may contain hard-copy films, exam documentation, etc.
- Performing and acting as an active team member to support the efficient operation of the eImaging Centre and the invasive procedural area.
- Performing cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies and prepares current electronic studies/images for distribution, viewing and diagnostics.
- Ensures previous studies are available for viewing by clinical team, when applicable.
- Ensures that accurate patient information is present and displayed on all images.
- Ensures image stations are set for image capture and display.
- Maintains and logs all reported problems relating to image capture and display stations.
- Locates and send images when requested.
- Locates and removes films from files when requested.
- Ensures electronic images/hard-copy films are routed to appropriate clinician for reporting/consult in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensures appropriate documentation/authorization is completed to facilitate the audit of electronic images/hard copy films removed from the centre.
- Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent
- Six (6) months recent related experience
- Previous on-the-job computer/word processing and database software experience
- Experience in a Microsoft Office software environment, preferred
- Experience working in a health care environment, an asset
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good telephone, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to produce work in accordance with Hospital standards
- Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
- Ability to perform routine work independently
- General knowledge of processes, procedures and standards
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
