Position Overview
We are seeking a Cleared Software Engineer with at least 2 years of professional C++ development experience to support mission-critical software development efforts in a DOD or high-reliability manufacturing environment. This role will work fully onsite in Owego, NY, contributing to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of embedded or system-level software used in defense or advanced manufacturing applications.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working in regulated, structured environments and is comfortable collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using C++
Support software development efforts for DOD programs or manufacturing systems, following established engineering and security standards
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation
Collaborate with systems, hardware, manufacturing, and test engineers to integrate software with complex systems
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues
Develop and maintain technical documentation in accordance with program and compliance requirements
Support software verification, validation, and configuration management activities
Adhere to security, safety, and quality standards required for cleared environments
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
2+ years of professional C++ development experience
Experience working in a DOD, defense contractor, or manufacturing environment
Active U.S. Government Security Clearance (Secret or higher preferred)
Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design and debugging
Ability to work fully onsite in Owego, NY
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with embedded systems or real-time software development
Familiarity with software development in regulated or high-reliability environments
Exposure to configuration management tools and processes
Experience working with hardware-software integration
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in team-based environments
