Civil Field Coordinator

The Civil Field Coordinator will support the execution of multiple capital projects within a Tailings Management Area. This role provides field-based coordination and oversight, contributing to project design input, execution strategy, scheduling, progress monitoring, and quality assurance. This is an onsite position.

Position Details

  • Onsite role
  • Contract duration: Minimum 12 months, with planned extensions for multiple years based on scheduled projects
  • Start date: As soon as possible

Hours of Work

  • 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 9-80 schedule
    • Week 1: Monday to Friday, 9-hour days (45 hours)
    • Week 2: Monday to Wednesday, 9-hour days; Thursday, 8 hours (35 hours)

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and support multiple capital construction projects in an active operating environment
  • Review engineering drawing packages and provide input on owner requirements and constructability opportunities
  • Review outgoing proposal requests and incoming construction proposals, providing technical and commercial input
  • Act as the owner’s primary day-to-day construction contact for contractor supervision and field team inquiries

Construction & Field Coordination Responsibilities

  • Conduct site-specific tours and provide general site orientation and awareness
  • Coordinate contractor mobilization and demobilization, including trailer placement and utility hookups
  • Coordinate, issue, and track site permits (e.g., silica, asbestos, hot work, excavation)
  • Attend and participate in contractor safety meetings, OHC meetings, and toolbox talks
  • Audit and review Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA) documentation
  • Lead and host construction progress meetings
  • Review construction schedules and monitor progress to proactively mitigate delays
  • Act as the owner’s representative for QA/QC requirements, including Inspection and Test Plan reviews and sign-off

Interface & Handover Support

  • Coordinate interfaces between construction contractors and internal safety, maintenance, warehouse, and operations teams
  • Create and manage work orders for internal labor support when required
  • Develop Records of Isolation and Confined Space permits in coordination with site lockout authorities
  • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for project completion and handover
  • Create, review, and manage project punch lists through to closeout

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, or a related technical field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience coordinating construction or capital projects in an industrial, mining, or heavy construction environment
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, construction proposals, and schedules
  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices, QA/QC requirements, and permitting processes
  • Proven ability to act as a primary point of contact between contractors and internal teams
  • Experience with project tracking, progress monitoring, and reporting
  • Familiarity with work order systems and permit management is an asset
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to address field and administrative challenges
