Civil Engineer

TLDR

Take on diverse civil engineering projects and grow your client-facing responsibilities in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment.

Some firms hand you a narrow lane and ask you to stay in it. This isn't one of them. Our client is a well-established, multi-disciplinary civil engineering firm serving a broad mix of municipal, commercial, institutional, and residential clients across multiple states — handling roughly 1,000 project assignments a year. Their portfolio spans land development, transportation, water and wastewater infrastructure, drainage, surveying, and municipal planning and grant writing. The culture is deliberately close-knit: employees are treated like family, leadership is accessible, and the work is varied enough that no two weeks look alike. If you're an engineer early in your career looking for real ownership of your work and a team that will invest in your development, this is worth your attention.

What You'll Own

  • Take on civil engineering projects across a diverse portfolio — land development, site design, municipal infrastructure, drainage systems, and transportation work
  • Support and eventually lead technical deliverables including grading and drainage design, utility coordination, stormwater management, permitting, and construction documentation
  • Coordinate between clients, project engineers, and contractors during construction phases, keeping projects on schedule and within budget
  • Contribute to grant writing, permit applications, and regulatory submittals as project needs dictate
  • Grow project ownership and client-facing responsibility as your experience develops — this is a firm that builds engineers over time, not just fills seats

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • 2–6 years of experience in a civil engineering role; candidates closer to the 3–5 year mark are the sweet spot, though strong entry-level applicants will be considered
  • Experience in land development is a genuine differentiator here — site design, grading, utilities, entitlements — but it is not a hard requirement
  • EIT certification or active pursuit of PE licensure is a plus
  • Candidates with 10+ years of experience are likely overqualified for this role and will not be a strong fit
  • Ability to work fully onsite, five days a week, in the Greater Toledo area — this is not a remote or hybrid position
  • Candidates outside the area are welcome to apply; relocation assistance is not provided

Benefits

  • Compensation range of $68,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience
  • Flexible, family-oriented work environment with a leadership team that genuinely invests in the people on their team
  • Broad project exposure across municipal, commercial, institutional, and residential work — no siloed specialization
  • Mentorship from licensed PEs with deep regional and multi-state project experience
  • Long-term career trajectory within a firm that has grown steadily through referrals and repeat client relationships
