The Role

As Pepperstone’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will provide exceptional technical and people leadership across our global technology organisation. This role is accountable for setting the strategic direction of Pepperstone’s technology landscape and driving delivery, scalability, and operational excellence.

You will lead all aspects of our Group IT, Engineering, Architecture, Security, Data, Infrastructure, and IT Operations functions- ensuring our platforms are resilient, high-performing, and aligned to business and customer outcomes. As a member of the Executive Committee, you will play a critical role in shaping Pepperstone’s long-term strategy and contributing to the next phase of our evolution.

You’ll lead a 300+ person global technology team and be excited to lead across cultures, regions and timezones.

This is a high-impact role for a hands-on, delivery-focused technology leader who thrives in a fast-paced, product-led fintech environment.

As our CTO, your key responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

• Set and execute the global IT strategy aligned to Pepperstone’s short, medium and long-term business goals.
• Own and manage technology risk, ensuring robust controls, governance and resilience across all systems.
• Partner closely with key and global stakeholders to deliver high-impact business and product outcomes.
• Oversee the performance, security and reliability of Pepperstone’s global infrastructure, networks, platforms and data environments.
• Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing global technology team across multiple regions, cultures and time zones.
• Build strong engineering, Product and UX collaboration to ensure client-centric, delivery-focused outcomes.
• Drive high standards of quality assurance, data protection and operational excellence.
• Manage and optimise third-party vendor relationships, ensuring commercial value and alignment to strategic objectives.
• Set, monitor and report on OKRs and budgets, ensuring performance, accountability and transparency.
• Navigate complex technology challenges, including legacy modernisation and large-scale transformation.
• Assess emerging technologies and guide stakeholders on adoption and implementation.
• Champion Pepperstone’s operating principles, fostering a culture of integrity, ownership and trust.
• Available during critical business or IT incidents, ensuring leadership continuity.
• Regular international required

About You

• Bachelor’s level qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• MBA or other relevant post-graduate degree (desirable)
• A minimum of 10+ years’ senior leadership IT experience, including industry experience in Forex & CFDs, Crypto, Payments
• Ability to pivot to meet evolving business requirements in a scaling environment, in a fast-paced setting with competing demands
• Demonstrated ability to lead and scale global high performing teams 200+
• Extensive technology expertise with the ability to coach and develop leaders
• Excellent project and change management skills
• Sound commercial acumen
• Exceptional English, communication, presentation, influencing and reasoning skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into simple language at all levels in the business
• Sound decision maker and critical thinker with the ability to sharply prioritise
• Flexible, approachable and hands-on in approach
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
• Understanding of financial markets (highly desirable)
• Ability to work across time zones and regularly travel overseas frequently
• Ability to champion Pepperstone’s operating principles
