Chief Technology Officer (Fintech / e-Commerce)

On behalf of our client, a fast-growing fintech e-commerce group, we are seeking a CTO to own the technology strategy and scale a secure, high-availability platform that powers global online payments and commerce.

Responsibilities:

• Set the technology vision & roadmap aligned to business goals (growth, customer experience, reliability, and cost).

• Architect a scalable, secure, cloud-native platform (APIs/services, data, integrations) optimized for performance and availability.

• Build, lead, and mentor high-performing engineering teams; set standards for code quality, delivery velocity, and craftsmanship.

• Drive reliability & operations excellence: SLOs/error budgets, observability, incident management, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.

• Own security, privacy, and compliance; embed secure-by-design/DevSecOps practices and lead external/internal audits.

• Lead core platform capabilities for the company’s domain (e.g., transactions, identity, workflows, third-party integrations).

• Establish the data strategy & analytics stack for near-real-time insights, experimentation, and actionable dashboards.

• Champion delivery excellence (Agile, CI/CD, automated testing, trunk-based or equivalent) and responsible cloud cost management.

• Manage technology vendors and partners; evaluate build-vs-buy; negotiate contracts and SLAs.

• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Commercial, Finance, and Legal; support key client initiatives and integrations.

• Own technology budgeting & strategy; communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to the executive team and Board.

• Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement; define and track engineering OKRs/KPIs.

Requirements:

• 10+ years in software engineering with 4+ years at senior leadership level (Head of Eng/CTO) in fintech, payments, or e-commerce.

• Proven delivery/operation of high-scale transactional systems

• Deep payments domain expertise

• Strong security & regulatory track record

• Mastery of cloud-native

• Demonstrated ability to hire, scale, and coach distributed engineering teams; culture builder with high talent density.

• Excellent executive communication & stakeholder management; credible with customers, regulators, and investors/Board.
