OBU (Bordrechner) is an integrated Software and Hardware (on-board-unit) solution for public transport vehicles (bus and tram). From showing the planned route to the driver to displaying the real time status to customers, the solution is used in hundreds of vehicles across Germany and is used by thousands. Heavily relying on the T-Systems own TETRA and ITCS solutions, we are developing everything in close contact with the customer to fit user needs.

Your tasks

As "Chief Project Manager", you will be responsible for overall planning, implementation, controlling and risk management of strategic software development and integration projects in German public transport systems. With your project team, you have the end-to-end responsibility for the solution in close collaboration with the relevant departments of delivery and the customer suppliers.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Management of (agile) projects in the field of public transport
  • In a national and international context  in the area of software/solution development and rollout 
  • Project management according to established standards, supplemented by agile methods (PMI, Prince, Scrum, SAFe) 
  • First point of contact and trusted partner for our customers 
  • Advising our clients' decision-makers 
  • Customer negotiations, coordination with the customer and internally on the project procedure as well as preparation of project reports 
  • Risk management 
  • Budget responsibility 
  • Scope management 
  • Stakeholder management 
  • Quality Management 
  • Contract negotiations 
  • Management of internal employees and external service providers in Germany and abroad 
  • Initialization of projects, incl. resource capacity planning 
  • Responsibility for project results and on-time delivery in the right quality as well as adherence to budget 
  • Successfully completed studies with a focus on IT or (business) economics or comparable professional training with at least 5 years of professional experience as a project manager
  • German language skills at least B2 level
  • Moderation and presentation skills at management level 
  • Ability to engage and build trust with your diverse/international team and key stakeholders 
  • Strong decision-making skills and communication skills 
  • Practical experience in contract, risk, change and claim management 
  • Experience in people and skills management  
  • Agile mindset, independent, proactive  
  • Technical affinity and know-how in the public transport environment desirable
