The Office of the New York City Comptroller serves as the City’s chief fiscal steward, responsible for auditing City agencies, managing pension funds, overseeing contracts, and advancing policy solutions that promote equity, transparency, and effective government. The Office of the New York City Comptroller, through its Bureau of Asset Management (BAM) is the custodian and delegated investment advisor to the five New York City Pension Funds. The Comptroller is also a trustee on each of the five pension fund boards. BAM manages the investments, operations, risk, and ESG considerations for the portfolios of the five funds. The Chief of Staff will work with the Leadership team to develop and implement special projects that cross teams within the agency, with a particular focus on strategic planning – both investment and operational, trustee relationships, and ESG. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee Special Projects that are priorities for the agency, including but not limited to long-term strategic planning, special events, and ESG
- Help restructure the work of the team and staff roles to better balance their interests and the needs of BAM and the system trustees. This includes a deep look at the current administrative systems within BAM and rationalizing those systems as appropriate and needed
- Oversee the preparation for all Trustee communications including but not limited to investment memos, board meeting content, and agendas
- Oversee the BAM Investment Committee schedules, material review, and preparation.
- Monitor and advise BAM’s CIO on bureau PS and OTPS budget
- Liaise with other departments and bureaus within the Comptroller’s office on agency-wide priorities
- Work with the Communications and Information Technology departments on external communications and transparency
- Establish additional systems within BAM as needed
- Represent the Bureau at internal and external meetings as needed
- Maintain confidential records on behalf of the Assistant Comptroller
- Perform other related duties and manage additional special projects as needed

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) or more years of project management experience in investment management, government, nonprofits, or a related area; preferably, 2 years of this experience must be in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
