The Opportunity

Buildout is looking for an unapologetically ambitious CMO who will own the entire marketing function, from defining marketing strategy, to mapping the marketing activities and organization to the corporate goals, to leading all execution across demand generation, brand, product marketing, and content marketing. Reporting to the CEO and owning a team, this leader will help us continue to push our brand prominence and position as the AI automation leader in CRE, drive demand to our product offering to increase revenue, retention and overall product adoption for new and existing customers, and work cross-collaboratively with the rest of the executive team to support our high-performance (and high-trust) culture.

How You’ll Contribute

This role will focus on a few key areas: leadership, demand generation & lead generation, and campaign performance. More specifically:

Marketing Vision & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a cohesive Marketing vision and strategy that elevates the brand in the market and is focused on demand generation to grow, track and improve marketing sourced and influenced pipeline and revenue.

  • Develop and execute a Marketing vision and strategy to increase adoption of our products, positively influence customer retention, and increase upsell and cross-sell leads to drive marketing sourced and influenced pipeline and revenue.

  • Build a unified focus and functional vision within the Marketing team, to include online and offline channels.

Brand Management

  • Create and drive a brand approach that drives Buildout’s position as the AI-brokerage automation leader, clearly defining the product lines and the end-to-end suite with explicit value-based ORI. .

  • Develop connections with industry and media influencers that ensure the brand receives a disproportionate amount of coverage versus its competitors, commensurate with the disproportionate amount of value that the solution delivers to its customers.

  • Review and update the brand tenets and tie all campaigns, events, social campaigns, collateral, and messaging to the brand tenets such that customers, prospects, and the industry have a clear understanding of the value the solutions deliver.

Lead Generation

  • Drive performance through a results-driven experimental approach, both in existing channels and by experimenting with new channels and techniques.

  • Own the company’s market-specific lead generation, lead nurturing, and conversion capabilities, optimizing and standardizing demand creation approaches across the organization to meet or exceed agreed-upon targets.

  • Optimize the end-to-end lead management process in conjunction with Sales and Customer Operations, including sales tools and collateral development, lead capture and lead nurturing.

  • Analyze industry trends, market conditions and competitors’ marketing tactics to continuously improve demand generation strategy.

  • Implement best practices in database management to increase data integrity and market reach; support marketing database strategy and data requests (e.g. segmentation, list pulls).

Systems & Reporting

  • Own and improve the metrics and tools needed to evaluate the effectiveness of demand generation activities and the growth of conversion metrics.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Operations function (under Finance) to instrument and monitor the key metrics and KPIs for marketing sourced and marketing influenced leads. ● Generate regular reporting for all major metrics used internally for the marketing team, senior leadership, and investor reporting.

Leadership

  • Lead the strategic and tactical execution of marketing with your department of 4+ direct reports, constantly reviewing roles and responsibilities against the needs of the business and working to develop, coach, and elevate your talented team..

  • Partner with Sales, Product, Customer Success, and other functional leaders to determine the best model for implementing account-based marketing, retention marketing, customer reference programs, and other revenue generating activities.

  • Manage internal marketing resources, external vendors and budget to accomplish goals. ● Be a visible, collaborative, and mission-driving member of the leadership team, with an impactful presence across the company.

What Makes a Great Candidate

  • You’ve got the stripes. You will have proven success leading marketing of software/technology and brands at different life stages of organizational growth including managing and developing teams with 4+ direct reports.

  • You know tech SaaS. You will have at least 12 years of B2B SaaS marketing and sales experience. Although not required, it would be great if you also had B2C sales and marketing experience.

  • You love a goal post. You will have focused your career on delivering measurable marketing ROI with expertise in all aspects of B2B (and, additionally, B2C direct marketing), including brand definition, highly effective demand generation, and end-to-end revenue growth.

  • You’re mathy. You will have a strong track record of managing and developing budgets, leveraging data and marketing analytics to provide insights and make recommendations to reach prospects and customers in new ways to improve sales, profitability and marketing ROI.

  • You’d win on Survivor. You are a skilled communicator with experience influencing and motivating people of all ilks and in short order, with a knack for presenting to internal stakeholders, customers, investor partners, and agency partners.

  • You like cracking the tough nuts. You are assertive and yet are also a great listener and can be influenced by others’ perspectives, and you’re incredibly collaborative in problem solving.

  • You’re allergic to half-speed. While you’ve got your priorities in order (family and health first, always), you like the pace of achievement and what it feels like to be a market leader. You love to win almost as much as you hate to lose.

Location: This is a fully remote role open across most of the US.

Travel: This role includes occasional travel for board meetings, conferences, and/or industry events. Travel may vary based on business needs.

Compensation: The targeted base salary range for this position is $225,000 - 260,000, plus bonus potential.
