This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the 222-S Laboratory on the Hanford Site is responsible for setting the overall vision and strategy for information technology across laboratory operations. The CIO leads enterprise-wide planning and drives innovation to ensure technology enhances laboratory effectiveness, safety, and compliance with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) directives and Hanford site-specific requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and execute long-term Information Technology (IT) vision and strategic plans to advance laboratory objectives and mission-critical initiatives.
  • Advise laboratory executive leadership on technology trends, opportunities, risks, and investments.
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity posture and data governance, in accordance with DOE Hanford site-specific requirements.
  • Represent the laboratory externally on IT matters, including regulatory agencies, industry forums, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Advise decision makers on enterprise digital transformation efforts to modernize laboratory operations and infrastructure.
  • Oversee technology procurement and partnership initiatives.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of experience in IT with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in DOE, federal, or highly regulated scientific environments.
  • Proven record of establishing strategic IT direction and influencing organizational strategy.
  • Deep understanding of IT governance, risk, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • 5 years IT leadership experience at the executive or enterprise level.
  • Experience working with Hanford site information systems.
  • Board certification (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional - CISSP, Certified Chief Information Officer).
  • Demonstrated achievement in leading organization-wide digital transformation and innovation initiatives.
  • Experience interfacing with executive stakeholders and external regulatory groups.

Compensation:

Grade 23: $187,338 - $246,613

In accordance with the Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc (Navarro) salary determination process, Navarro takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities and the candidate’s education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. A candidate's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
