Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly credible Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company’s financial management, capital adequacy, liquidity planning, and regulatory reporting as we prepare for and operate under a Swedish credit market company licence.

The CFO will hold overall responsibility for the financial soundness of the institution and for ensuring that the company meets Finansinspektionen’s (FI) requirements relating to capital, liquidity, governance, internal controls, and risk management. The role requires deep experience in banking or regulated financial institutions and the ability to meet fit and proper requirements under Swedish financial regulation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Regulatory Readiness

• Define and execute the company’s financial strategy in line with business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements
• Ensure the financial organisation, processes, and controls are fully aligned with FI expectations for a licensed credit market company
• Act as a key strategic partner to the CEO and Board on financial resilience, capital planning, and sustainable growth
  

Capital Adequacy & ICAAP

• Hold overall responsibility for the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)
• Ensure the ICAAP:
• Accurately reflects the company’s risk profile, business model, and strategy
• Is proportionate, forward-looking, and integrated into decision-making
• Meets FI requirements and supervisory expectations
• Lead capital planning, stress testing, and scenario analysis
• Ensure sufficient own funds are maintained at all times in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements
  

Liquidity Management & ILAAP

• Hold overall responsibility for the Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process (ILAAP)
• Ensure robust liquidity risk management, including:
• Liquidity buffers and funding strategies
• Stress testing and contingency funding planning
• Ongoing monitoring and reporting
• Ensure the ILAAP is well-documented, embedded in governance, and compliant with FI expectations
  

Regulatory & Financial Reporting

• Ensure timely, accurate, and complete regulatory reporting to Finansinspektionen (FI)
• Oversee statutory and regulatory financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting and supervisory standards
• Act as the primary contact with FI on financial, capital, and liquidity matters
• Ensure high-quality documentation and audit trails supporting supervisory reviews and inspections
  

Financial Governance, Controls & Audit

• Establish and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls appropriate for a regulated credit institution
• Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring
• Lead the relationship with external auditors and ensure high-quality audit outcomes
• Work closely with risk management, compliance, and internal audit functions to ensure a strong and integrated control environment
  

Board & Stakeholder Management

• Prepare and present financial, capital, and liquidity materials to the Board and relevant committees
• Support the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities regarding financial soundness
• Engage with investors, funding partners, auditors, and external advisors as required
• Contribute to regulatory dialogue with professionalism, transparency, and credibility
  

Leadership & Organisation

• Build and lead a finance function with the competence, capacity, and independence required by FI
• Ensure appropriate segregation of duties, clear responsibilities, and effective escalation mechanisms
• Promote a culture of financial discipline, regulatory awareness, and accountability

Requirements

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance executive with a minimum of 5 years experience within:
• Banking
• Credit market companies
• Other regulated financial institutions
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• ICAAP and capital planning
• ILAAP and liquidity risk management
• Regulatory reporting and supervisory interaction
• Solid understanding of Swedish and EU financial regulation and FI supervisory practices 
• Treasury experience is essential
• Demonstrated experience working directly with regulators and managing supervisory processes
• Ability to meet fit and proper requirements under Swedish financial regulation
• Relevant academic degree in finance, accounting, economics, or similar
• Professional qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable
