This role offers the opportunity to strategically manage the procurement of raw materials and drive cost-effective sourcing strategies across multiple manufacturing locations. You will play a key role in aligning category strategies with production needs, supplier relationships, and cross-functional partners to ensure security of supply and operational efficiency. The position combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, requiring analysis of market trends, negotiation of contracts, and implementation of productivity projects. Accountabilities:
Develop and execute raw materials category strategies that optimize cost, risk, and service quality.
Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and corporate governance standards.
Monitor global commodity markets, trade dynamics, and cost drivers to identify risks, opportunities, and strategic improvements.
Partner with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and Finance to align category strategies with production requirements, budgets, and product development plans.
Lead improvement and productivity projects aimed at reducing costs, enhancing sustainability, and streamlining procurement processes.
Implement supplier performance management programs, including scorecards and continuous improvement initiatives.
Leverage spend analytics to drive actionable insights and support corporate procurement KPIs.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or related field.
10+ years of experience in procurement or category management, preferably in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present complex data.
Proven experience in contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and category strategy execution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
Strategic thinking and business insight with a track record of delivering measurable cost savings or operational improvements.
Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel nationally and internationally (up to 15%).
