This is a 12-month temporary position as a Capital Projects Engineer, where you’ll take ownership of delivering safe, efficient, and successful projects that drive our site’s growth and continuous improvement.

In this role you will:

  • Lead multiple capital projects, delivering them safely, on time, on budget, and to agreed performance standards, 
  • Act as the main point of contact for Project Sponsors, providing progress updates and technical guidance, 
  • Develop project structures, schedules, and resource plans, and oversee all stages of the project application process, 
  • Manage permits, compliance documentation, and health, safety, and environmental obligations for projects, 
  • Monitor and control cost, quality, and risk, escalating significant issues to management and relevant committees, 
  • Support site initiatives, including ISO 9001/14001, HACCP certification, and continuous improvement activities, 
  • Coach and review team members, handling performance, attendance, and development in line with HR policies, 
  • Collaborate across functions to drive improvement opportunities and contribute to overall site development.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field, 
  • 5–10 years’ experience managing major capital projects, ideally in petrochemical, chemical, or refining industries, 
  • NEBOSH certification; knowledge of CDM Regulations, 
  • Strong understanding of construction, engineering, procurement, and project lifecycle activities, 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; SAP experience desirable, 
  • Skilled in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and working independently to meet deadlines, 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; adaptable to changing priorities, 
  • Experience with process control systems and PLCs is an advantage,
