Capital Markets Associate
TLDR
Develop and maintain financial models and coordinate funding processes while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to secure project funding and manage risks.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis and Modeling:
- Develop and maintain complex financial models, including project finance models, DCF analysis, and valuation assessments
- Conduct sensitivity analyses and scenario planning to assess project risks and returns.
- Perform financial due diligence on potential projects, including reviewing contracts, agreements, and project documentation.
- Funding Process Management
- Coordinate with lenders, investors, and other financial stakeholders to satisfy Conditions Precent (CPs) in order to secure project funding in a timely, coordinated manner
- Documentation: Review and provide to lenders and investors comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, agreements, and progress reports
- Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain project financing schedules, ensuring timely completion of financing milestones
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Origination of New Financing
- Assist team in structuring and negotiating project financing agreements, including tax equity, construction debt, and term debt facilities
- Prepare financial analyses and presentations for internal investment committees and external capital partners
- Financial Analysis and Reporting:
- Cost Estimation: Review and support detailed cost estimates and budgets for project development phases.
- Financial Tracking: Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints
- Collaboration and Communication
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, finance, and legal teams to ensure cohesive project development.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders on project status and developments.
Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
- Experience
- 1-5 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, or a related field. Experience in the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in financial modeling, analysis, and valuation of infrastructure or energy projects.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in financial modeling software (e.g., Excel) and financial analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of project finance concepts, including debt, equity, and tax equity structures.
- Knowledge of renewable energy financing mechanisms, such as power purchase agreements (PPAs) and tax credits.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and critically.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
