Equivity is seeking an experienced California Family Law Paralegal to support attorneys handling a wide range of matters, including divorce, paternity, child custody and support, domestic violence injunctions, and post-judgment modifications.
This is a remote position requiring a minimum availability of 20 hours per week, with the flexibility to increase hours based on client needs and performance. You’ll have the opportunity to work with multiple law firms and contribute meaningfully to cases while maintaining the balance and autonomy of remote work.
What You’ll Do:
· Manage family law cases from intake through resolution, including discovery, mediation, and trial preparation. Maintain organized electronic case files and ensure all deadlines are met.
· Draft, edit, and file pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and financial affidavits in compliance with California Family Law Rules of Procedure and local court requirements. Coordinate e-filings through the California Courts E-Filing Portal and maintain accurate proof of service and filing records.
· Prepare and respond to discovery requests, compile and analyze financial disclosures, and assist with preparation of equitable distribution schedules.
· Maintain professional and responsive communication with clients, providing updates, gathering information, and ensuring they understand each stage of the case.
· Coordinate with court personnel, opposing counsel, mediators, and experts to facilitate hearings, mediation, and scheduling.
· Prepare exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and related materials; assist attorneys during mediation and trial as needed.
· Manage calendars, track deadlines, and ensure case files and correspondence are accurately maintained.
About You:
· Minimum of 3 years of recent California family law experience, including drafting, filing, discovery, and trial or hearing preparation.
· Bachelor’s degree required.
· Strong understanding of California Family Law Rules of Procedure, local filing practices, and court-specific requirements.
· Excellent writing, communication, and analytical abilities; strong attention to detail; and the ability to manage multiple cases independently.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and family law case management systems such as Clio, MyCase, or PracticePanther.
· PC/Windows computer strongly preferred.
· Proactive, reliable, and able to balance priorities while maintaining excellent communication in a virtual environment.
