This job posting is to hire for a newly created position.
The Business Development Support Specialist is an entry-level role designed to provide critical support to Business Development Managers (BDMs) in driving growth across new and existing markets. This individual will focus on lead generation, cold outreach, market research, and supporting new product launches, helping to build and maintain a robust sales pipeline. The role offers hands-on experience in the full sales cycle and is an excellent stepping stone to more senior sales positions.
Snapshot of responsibilities
Lead Generation & Prospecting:
Research and identify potential clients using various tools and platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Salesforce, industry databases).
Build and maintain targeted lead lists for outreach campaigns.
Initiate contact with prospects via cold calls, emails, and social media.
Qualify leads and nurture them until they are ready for hand-off to BDMs or Account Managers.
Track outreach activities and results in CRM system.
Market Development:
Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and emerging trends.
Support BDMs in analyzing underperforming segments and recommending strategies for improvement.
Assist in gathering competitive intelligence and customer feedback.
New Product Launch Support:
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Marketing, R&D) to support go-to-market activities.
Help organize prototype orders, collect customer feedback, and document insights for product development.
Participate in product and sales training sessions to build technical knowledge.
Sales & Customer Support:
Respond to inbound inquiries and route qualified leads to the appropriate sales team member.
Maintain accurate records of all interactions and lead status in CRM.
Support event and conference logistics as needed.
Reporting & Collaboration:
Prepare regular reports on lead generation activities, pipeline status, and campaign outcomes.
Collaborate with BDMs to develop tailored pitches and proposals.
Participate in team meetings to share insights and best practices.
What you bring
Required Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
1–2 years of experience in sales, lead generation, or business development preferred (internships or co-op experience welcome).
Strong research and analytical skills; ability to filter and prioritize critical information.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable with phone, email, and live chat outreach.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms (Salesforce experience is an asset).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High level of integrity, initiative, and commitment to building a successful company.
Preferred Skills
Experience in life sciences, biotechnology, or related industries.
Familiarity with virtual meeting tools (Teams, Zoom).
Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings or industry events.
