Business Development Representative (Events)

AI overview

Drive pipeline creation through targeted outreach and follow-up strategies for events while executing lead generation and qualification processes effectively.

What You’ll Do:

  • Event Meeting Setting (Pre-event + Onsite)
  • Build target account and contact lists for each event (ICP-based).
  • Run pre-event outreach to book meetings for AEs (and/or for yourself to qualify first).
  • Coordinate calendars, meeting logistics, and clear success criteria for each meeting.
  • Support event execution as needed (lead capture, meeting notes, routing follow-ups).
  • Event Lead Follow-up (Post-event, SLA-driven)
  • Own end-to-end follow-up for event leads: triage → qualify → book next step → handoff.
  • Execute timely follow-up (same-day / 24–48h) with structured messaging and multi-touch sequences.
  • Maintain tight collaboration with AEs to ensure smooth handoffs and coverage.
  • Sequencing (Email-first + LinkedIn + Calling)
  • Create and run outbound campaigns primarily via cold email, supported by LinkedIn touches and calling.
  • Personalize at scale (smart personalization, not spammy token swaps).
  • Drive measurable outcomes: meeting volume, show rate, SQL conversion, pipeline influenced.
  • Lead Sourcing, Enrichment, and Qualification (Technical + Analytical)
  • Build and qualify lead lists using tools like Instantly and enrichment/list-building platforms such as Clay (preferred).
  • Enrich and validate data: firmographics, technographics, role relevance, trigger/context signals.
  • Maintain campaign health: segmentation, A/B testing, reply handling, suppression lists, and deliverability basics.
  • Qualification depth depends on segment and is aligned with AE expectations (handoff criteria, success criteria, and the required context for a high-quality first AE meeting).
  • CRM Hygiene, Reporting, and Handoffs
  • Keep Hubspot CRM updated (activities, outcomes, lead status, meeting notes, next steps).
  • Track performance by event and by channel (email/LinkedIn/call), identify what converts, and iterate.
  • Align routing rules and SLAs with RevOps (e.g., what becomes an SQL, when to hand off, how to tag event source).
  • Compliance & Data Handling
  • Ensure prospecting and follow-up comply with GDPR, consent rules, and best practices for professional outreach.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3-5+ years experience as a BDR/SDR (or similar), with clear proof of outbound performance.
  • Event experience required: pre-booking meetings for events and executing structured post-event follow-up.
  • Strong execution across:
    - Cold email (sequence design, deliverability awareness, reply handling)
    - Cold calling (confidence, objection handling, follow-up discipline)
    - LinkedIn outreach (Sales Navigator + automation workflows)
  • Hands-on experience with automation and outbound tooling, ideally including:
    - Instantly (or comparable outbound sequencing platform)
    - Clay (preferred) for list building/enrichment and lead qualification workflows
    - LinkedIn automation tools (e.g., HeyReach/Dripify/Expandi or comparable tool-agnostic, skill-focused)
  • Comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment (targets, conversion rates, pipeline impact).
  • Strong written and spoken English.

Personal Skills That Matter in This Role:

  • High follow-through and operational discipline (especially around event SLAs).
  • Strong judgment on lead quality (knows when to push, nurture, or disqualify).
  • Clear communicator across teams (Marketing, Events, Sales, RevOps).
  • Curious, coachable, and able to iterate quickly based on performance data.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to Inference/AI/cybersecurity/CDN/edge/cloud/infra topics.
  • Experience selling into hosting/ISPs, gaming infrastructure, SaaS, fintech, or ecommerce.
  • HubSpot experience (or comparable CRM), including lead statuses, sequences, tasks, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with data quality processes (deduping, verification, enrichment logic).
