The primary role of the BDM is to identify, engage and convert potential profitable new business opportunities, whilst maintaining and developing existing business, relationships and a strong maintained pipeline. In collaboration with the Corporate Account Managers, the BDM play a key role in executing the company’s distribution strategy and driving sustainable growth. 

 

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Following up new and existing business opportunities; building and maintaining broker relationships and owning the full customer engagement cycle/engagement and implementation plans.
  • To achieve sales targets through understanding internal and external stakeholder/competitor positions, criteria and products with Head of Sales.
  • Develop a quarterly business plan outlining the approach to achieving targets, including any support required such as marketing literature, for the approval by the Head of Sales 
  • Support the Head of Sales in the development of the short, medium and long-term sales strategy
  • Convert, and manage opportunities within your territory, originating from Corporate Account leads
  • Data input, administration, trend and lead analysis
  • Focus on broker quality metrics and application conversion to help deliver good customer outcomes
  • Production of MI and reports as required by the Head of Sales or key stakeholders
  • Communicate and promote both existing and new product and criteria developments to current and prospective accounts .
  • To build meaningful relationships with all accounts and establish a position of lender of choice, through timely communication (email, telephone, technology) and visits to brokers.
  • First point of contact for all broker queries and acting as the voice of the broker; working closely with our internal broker support teams to ensure market leading service and support
  • Identify market trends, requirements and feedback to support shape our product offerings.
  • Support the development of the TML & Bluestone brands and actively promote and shape the marketing messages
  • Identify and maximise opportunities for change requirements with Policy/product/process/performance measures
  • Take the lead in new business pitches and oversee the smooth, effective onboarding of new accounts.
  • Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and roundtables, actively engaging with brokers to share insights, promote TML and Bluestone propositions, and support their continued education and development.
  • Ensure compliance with all Shawbrook Retail Mortgages, legislative and regulatory requirements by ensuring that all policies and procedures are understood and consistently followed
  • Undertake mandatory learning and training in line with business requirements and timeframes
  • Proven experience working within a Mortgage Intermediary sales team , specifically within the Mortgage Market or Financial Services industry, covering the Central London region or surrounding areas.
  • Strong understanding of the broker market, with particular expertise in the Specialist, Complex Credit, New Build and Buy to Let segments
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the regulatory environment, ensuring responsible lending practises and delivering best possible outcomes for customers – particularly those with potential vulnerabilities - through broker education and ongoing support.
  • Highly motivated with a proven record of identifying sales opportunities and managing them through to conversion and ongoing account management
  • Proven ability to achieve and exceed targets
  • A good understanding of how to create marketing opportunities in conjunction with data base requirements
  • Excellent communication, report and presentation skills – written and verbal
  • Proven ability to build strong meaningful relationships with internal colleagues and external business partners.
  • Experience of working within business processes and products and supporting the development of new ones as required
  • Experience of Microsoft Office products is essential

Qualifications

Educated to degree level and being CeMAP qualified would be desirable, but not essential as for the right candidate; the business would support CeMAP where it meets organisational and professional development (individual commitment to study and pass CeMAP within 12 months commencement of qualification)
