We currently have an opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join Pay to Publish - Open Research India commercial team.

This is an individual contributor role.

Looking for a Business Development Manager for Open Access Publication for Taylor and Francis Group Division. Responsibilities involve Account Management, hunting new accounts maximize sales pipeline by representing Open Research Publication Avenues to Research Organizations, Leading Higher Education Institutions & Societies, Corporate & Research Funders engaged in Research Grants.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver sales target by selling Open Access Research Publishing Solutions to the leading Research Institutions, Universities, Societies, and drive APC (Article Processing Charges) revenue on to open access/research platforms.
  • Develop Account Management Strategy from the target customers/segments in the region in adherence to Open Research Publishing global commercial strategy with core focus to sell Open Access memberships, F1000 Platforms, Gateways, and Pre-paid APC packages.
  • Develop & manage relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to Head of Organizations, Research Heads, Directors, Vice Chancellors, Heads of departments/Academic Dean of key academic institutions having sizable Gold OA output in the region.                           
  • Periodically reporting to manager on sales progress and the business environment, thus ensuring responsiveness to both the micro and macro business environments.
  • Work closely with the Business Liaison team to extend a robust post-sales support to existing clients.
  • Actively liaise with stakeholder departments or groups within the business to enhance seamless service delivery to customers – includes credit control, editorial, marketing and sales support
  • Attending relevant conferences and events to build relationships and prospect for new customers.
  • Travelling to potential sales opportunities in the respective region.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Prior experience engaging with academic institutions/universities is highly desirable
  • Good Knowledge of Research Publishing solutions, Open Access/Open research publishing services 
  • Understanding of Research and Higher Education domain in India covering Public & Private funded Institutions/Universities, Research Centers, corporates, research societies & related community
  • Target driven approach and the skills to manage sales budgets
  • Good & Proven knowledge of selling B2B Solutions
  • Consultative sales skills and a customer focused approach
  • The ability to work independently and pro-actively
  • Willingness to travel extensively on territory and to conferences, as required 
  • Excellent negotiation, articulation and presentation skills
  • A collaborative and flexible approach to working both internally and externally
  • Excellent commercial and financial awareness
  • Good analytical, decision making and problem-solving skill
  • Competent user of core MS Office package

When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely.

Location : You must have the right to live and work in India. We’re primarily hiring for our South India (Chennai/Bangalore), but are open to considering Delhi-based candidates if we find the right fit. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.​
