Position Overview
The Business Development Associate is an entry-level role designed for a highly motivated individual looking to launch a career in energy and sustainability advisory services. This position will play a critical role in supporting the firm’s growth by identifying market opportunities, developing client relationships, and enabling the delivery of impactful energy and sustainability solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Inbound Lead Management
Engage, qualify and drive through our contracting process leads generated from Trio’s marketing efforts or through our supply chain programs.
Maintain and update CRM databases with accurate lead, pipeline, and opportunity information.
Business Development Support
Assist in drafting proposals, pitch decks, case studies, and thought leadership materials.
Assist in research and documenting client sustainability goals, geography, load, stakeholder mapping, etc.
Monitor RFP portals and help prepare bid responses.
Client Engagement
Participate in client calls and meetings, taking notes and tracking action items.
Develop a foundational understanding of client needs around decarbonization, energy management, and sustainability advisory.
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with internal delivery teams ensure consistent messaging and alignment of client solutions.
Contribute to knowledge-sharing across the business development team.
Performance Tracking
Support reporting on pipeline activity, KPIs, and revenue targets.
Assist in tracking success of campaigns, events, and outreach initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Demonstrated interest in sustainability, energy transition, or climate change solutions.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); CRM experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) a plus.
Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
